IBPS PO Exam PatternIBPS PO Exam Pattern 2017- The exam pattern of IBPS PO has been announced by the exam conducting authority, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The IBPS PO exam comprises of online examinations (Prelims and Mains) followed by Interview. The IBPS PO exam pattern 2017 provides details about the number of sections, number of sections, total marks, time duration, marking scheme and negative marks. The Preliminary examination of IBPS PO will comprise of three sections -English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The mains examination of IBPS PO five sections – Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness (with special reference to Banking) and Computer Knowledge. All the questions of both Prelims and Mains examination will be objective type. The total marks allotted for Preliminary examination is 100 marks while the mains examination carries 200 marks. Candidates qualifying the online examination will be called for Interview. The Interview will be conducted for 100 marks. Hightlights of IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2017

The highlights of IBPS PO has been illustrated in the table below:

Online Prelims Exam
  • There will be three sections – English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude
  • The prelims exam will be conducted for 100 marks
  • Time alloted for prelims exam is 1 hour
  • For wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty
  • Candidates will have to qualify in all the three sections
  • Scores of the online prelims exam will be normailised using equi-percentile method
Online Mains Exam
  • Mains exam will be conducted for 200 marks
  • The total number of sections in the mains exam are - Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English Language and Computer Knowledge
  • Negative mark for the mains exam is 0.25
  • The exam will be conducted for 140 minutes
  • The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equi-percentile method.
  • Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations
Interview
  • Candidates shortlisted in the main examination will be called for the interview
  • The interview will be conducted for 100 marks
  • The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates)

The marking scheme of IBPS PO 2017 prelims, mains and final has been shown below:

Prelims Exam

  • Total weighted score = Scores obtained in (Reasoning + Quantitative Aptitude + English)

Mains Exam

  • Total Weighted Score = Standard Scores obtained in (Reasoning + Quantitative Aptitude + General Awareness+ Computer Knowledge + English Language)

Final Score

  • Total score = Marks scored in mains exam + interview

IBPS PO 2017 Final Merit List

The combined final merit will be basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the mains examination and interview. IBPS will give weightage to the main exam and interview in the ratio 80:20 respectively. On completion of the interview process, depending on the number of vacancies to be filled in during financial year 2017-18 candidates will be allotted in any of the participating institutes to the post of Probationary Officer.
