IBPS SO 2018: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will conduct the recruitment of Specialist Officer (SO) to appoint eligible candidates at various posts under SO in around20 public sector banks. IBPS SO 2018 – What’s New
IBPS has announced change in the exam pattern for IBPS SO 2018. Earlier the recruitment process consisted of one single examination followed by personal interview. From this on, the exam will consist of three stages, prelims, mains and personal interview. The preliminary exam will test the candidates on English language, Reasoning and Quantitative aptitude whereas the mains exam will consist of only professional knowledge test items. Candidates qualifying the preliminary exam will be eligible to sit for the mains exam and those who qualify both the former rounds, will be called for personal interview.

The application form of IBPS SO 2018 will be released online in October. All the aspirants willing to work at the post of Specialist Officer in public sector banks will have to fill the online application form. Candidates should note that they will have to submit their application form online as applications through any other mode will not be accepted. The IBPS SO application form has to be filled and submitted in five parts Registration/Basic Info, uploading of photograph & signature, details, preview and payment of application fee. Candidates are advised to be very careful while filling their application form as there is no option for making change in particulars.
All the candidates will also have to pay the application fees while submitting their application form. The amount of fees for candidates of PwD/SC/ST category will be Rs.100/-whereas all the other candidates will have to pay Rs.600/- as application fees. Applications submitted without the payment of fees will not be accepted by the commission.
Applicants will have to begin with new registration by providing their details like, name, contact number, email id etc,. After successful registration candidates will have to provide more details in the application form such as academic details, preferences of banks, language proficiency, category, number of attempts, choice of exam cities. IBPS will also decide the eligibility criteria for the applicants willing to participate in IBPS SO 2018 recruitment. The eligibility criteria will highlight a few requirements in terms of educational qualifications, age limit and nationality. All the applicants will have to check the eligibility criteria of IBPS SO for the preferred post before filling the application form.
The eligibility conditions for SO recruitment as per the previous notification must be between 20 to 30 years of age and should be a citizen of India/Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee settled in India. Applicants who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia,Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with an aim to settle in India and fulfill the age criteria can also apply for IBPS SO 2018 exam.
The preliminary and mains exam of IBPS SO 2018 will held across the country in various exam centres. The list of IBPS SO 2018 exam centres will be made available to the candidates in the official notification. Applicants will have to check the names of exam centres and indicate their preference in the application form. IBPS will allot exam centres to candidates out of their given choices based on convenience, response of the exam centre with UPSC and availability of seats. In case a centre opted by the applicant gets frozen due to unavailability will be allotted a different centre based on the discretion of IBPS. IBPS will issue the admit cards for IBPS SO 2018 for all the three stages, prelims, mains and interview. The admit card for IBPS SO preliminary exam will be released in the first phase for all the candidates whose applications will be accepted by IBPS. The tentative date for the availability of admit card for the preliminary exam is first week of December 2017. The admit card for mains exam of IBPS SO 2018 will be released in January 2018. Candidates shortlisted for Interview on the basis of their performance in the mains exam will be issued admit card in February 2018 tentatively. The exam pattern of IBPS SO exam has been changed from this year. All the candidates who will be appearing for the exam will have to sit for three stages -prelims, mains and personal interview instead of a single examination and personal interview. Candidates should know the paper pattern of IBPS SO 2018 prior to attempting the exam in order to understand the mode of the exam, number of sections, number of questions section-wise as well as overall, negative marking, sectional as well as total marks.
As per the notification regarding change of exam pattern, the preliminary exam will be served as a screening test and marks secured by the candidates in the prelims will not be counted for final order of merit. The result of IBPS Specialist Officers will be declared for all the three stages – prelims, mains and interview. IBPS will use the equi-percentile method to obtain the corrected scores secured by the candidates in prelims and mains exam through normalization while calculating IBPS SO result 2018.

The cutoff scores of IBPS SO 2018 prelims and mains will be applied on candidate’s individual and total score.
