The written examination of UPSC NDA (I) 2018 will be conducted for 900 marks. The exam will comprise of two sections – Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both the sections consisted of objective type questions only. UPSC has fixed minimum qualifying marks in written examination of NDA 1 to select deserving candidates for Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview. The commission prepares a merit list of candidates based on the minimum qualifying marks of written exam. Candidates whose roll numbers will feature in the merit list will have to appear for Intelligence and Personality Test held at SSB centres. UPSC will release the marksheet of candidates after the recruitment process is over.
The SSB tests are expected to be conducted in June, 2018. The total marks allotted to SSB test is 900. Candidates will have to qualify the exam securing the minimum qualifying marks. The minimum qualifying marks for SSB test will be decided by UPSC.
UPSC is likely to announce the final result of NDA 1 in September. The NDA 1 final result will be declared based on the performance of candidates in written examination and SSB test. The commission shall prepare All India merit list on the basis of total marks secured by candidates in the written exam and SSB tests. The final allocation to Army, Navy, Air Force of National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be done as per the number of vacancies, eligibility, medical fitness, post preference and ranks in the merit list.
The cutoff of NDA is the minimum qualifying marks which candidates must secure to qualify the exam and become eligible for next round of selection process. The examination authority, UPSC, shall fix NDA 1 cutoff at written stage and final stage. The NDA 1 cutoff for both the stages will be released after completion of recruitment process. The NDA cutoff of written exam will be decided out of 900 marks. Based on NDA 1 cutoff of written exam, candidates will be shortlisted for SSB tests.
