NTPC every year recruits young and energetic youths to the various posts such as executives, non-executives, management trainee, diploma trainee, Executive Engineer, Assistant Manager etc in the organization and its subsidiary units. Candidates under NTPC recruitment is selected on the basis of written test/skill tests/interview as per the posts advertised. Candidates recruited are engaged in project management, construction management and operation and management of power plants etc.

Service bond under NTPC recruitment

The service agreement bond in NTPC is INR 2,50,000 for general/OBC candidates and INR 1.25,000 for SC/ST/PWD candidates depending on the posts. One has to execute the bond for 4 years and if any one leave the organization before the completion of the training, the entire bond amount is too be paid. Once the candidate has completed the training, the bond amount reduces on pro-rata basis. Further if any candidate quit the job during training or probation period (one year after the completion of training), will be required to serve one month notice period. The notice period is three months on regularization after successful completion of probation.
