SBI PO Question Papers 2018 – Exam Pattern

The selection procedure of SBI PO 2018 recruitment consists of three stages - preliminary exam, main exam and group exercises & interview. Details of SBI PO exam pattern for preliminary and mains exam are given below.

Preliminary Exam

The preliminary exam is the first phase of SBI PO selection procedure and the important highlights of paper pattern are as given below.

  • SBI PO 2018 preliminary examination is an objective exam. Candidates have to select correct answer for every question out of the five given choices
  • The total marks allotted for the preliminary exam are 100
  • As per the marking scheme given in SBI PO exam pattern, candidates are given 1 marks for each correct answer, whereas 1/4 of the total marks allotted to a question will be deducted for incorrect answer.
  • The exam will have 3 sections in total and candidates will have to secure the sectional and overall cutoff to qualify the exam.

SBI PO 2018 Mains Exam Pattern

Candidates who secure the SBI PO cutoff 2018 in the preliminary examination will be shortlisted to appear for the mains exam. The important highlights for each part of the SBI PO 2018 mains exam are given below.

The main examination of SBI PO is divided into two stages:

  • Objective Test
  • Descriptive Test

Objective Test

  • The objective test of SBI PO mains exam is for 200 marks
  • Candidates will have to appear for the objective test first and upon completion the descriptive test will be held immediately
  • Objective test of the mains exam has four sections - Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Economy/Banking Awareness and English Language.
  • The objective test will have separate timing for every section.
  • According to the marking scheme of the objective test, 1/4 of the total marks for a question will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, no mark will be deducted in case a question has been left unanswered.

Descriptive Test

  • Candidates appearing for the mains exam of SBI PO will appear for descriptive test immediately after the objective test is completed.
  • The descriptive test will be conducted for 30 minutes for a total of 50 marks
  • SBI PO 2018 descriptive test will test the candidates on English Language – Letter Writing and Essay
  • Candidates are required to qualify in the descriptive test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
  • Descriptive test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the objective tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in objective test.
