SSC CGL Exam PatternSSC CGL Exam Pattern 2017: The exam pattern of SSC CGL provides details of marking scheme, number of Tiers, number of sections of each Tier, total marks, exam timings and negative marking. The SSC CGL exam pattern 2017 has been defined by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). According to SSC CGL 2017 exam pattern, the exam will comprise of four Tiers- Tier 1, 2, 3 & 4. The Tier 1 & 2 of SSC CGL will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) comprising of objective type questions from various sections. The Tier 3 of SSC CGL is a descriptive test to be conducted in pen and paper mode. The Tier IV of SSC CGL 2017 includes Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification. The total marks allotted to Tier 1 exam is 200 marks. The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam will comprise of four Papers -Paper I, II, III & IV. The Paper I and II is common for all posts while Paper III & IV is for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)/Assistant Accounts Officer(AAO). Each paper of Tier 2 will carry 200 marks. The Tier 3 as per SSC CGL paper pattern will be test in English/Hindi on writing Essays/Precie/Letter/Appli cations etc. The maximum marks allotted to the test is 100 marks. The SSC CGL Tier 4 is qualifying in nature. The questions of SSC CGL 2017 will be of Class 10/HSC, Class 12 and graduation level. SSC CGL Tier I Exam Pattern 2017

  • The Tier-I exam of SSC CGL will comprise of four parts – General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.
  • Each section will comprise of 25 questions of 50 marks.
  • The total marks of the paper will be of 200 marks.
  • Each question will carry 2 marks.
  • The duration of the exam will be 60 minutes.

 SSC CGL Tier II Exam Pattern 2017

  • Tier-II of the examination of SSC CGL would comprise four papers in total. Of these four papers, two papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II is compulsory for all the candidates. However, Paper III (Statistics) will be conducted for the post of Statistical Investigator (now known as Junior Statistical Officer) and Paper-IV (Finance and Accounts and Economics and Governance) is for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) in C &AG.
  • Each paper would be for duration of two hours.
  • Paper-I would be on Quantitative Ability carrying 100 Questions of 200 marks. Each question would carry two marks. Negative marks for each wrong answer would be 0.50 marks.
  • Paper-II will be on English Language and Comprehension carrying 200 Questions of 200 Marks. Each question would carry one mark. 0.25 marks would be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-III would be on Statistics consisting of 100 Questions of 200 marks. This paper will be for those candidates who have applied for the post of Statistical Investigator. Each question would carry two marks. 0.50 marks would be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-IV will be for those candidates who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) in C&AG. The said paper would comprise of two parts i.e., Finance and Accounts for which there would be 40 questions carrying 80 marks and Economics and Governance will have 60 questions carrying 120 marks. In all there will be 100 questions carrying 200 Marks with each question carrying two marks. 0.50 marks would be deducted for each wrong answer. The paper will be for a duration of two hours.

The marking scheme of SSC CGL Tier 2 is given below.

SSC CGL Tier III Exam Pattern 2017

  • The Tier III exam of SSC CGL 2017 is a Descriptive Test
  • The total marks of the paper is 100 marks and will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode
  • The duration of the paper would be one hour.
  • This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs.
  • The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay / Passage of 250 words and Letter / Application Writing of approximately 150 words.
  • The qualifying marks in Tier-III would be 33 per cent.
  • The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
  • The questions in this paper would be of 10+2 standard.

SSC CGL Tier IV Exam Pattern 2017

  • The Tier IV of SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2017 is Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
  • The DEST/CPT will be of qualifying nature.
  • The DEST is conducted for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax) whereas CPT is for the post of Assistant Section Officer of CSS.
  • The DEST/CPT will be conducted online
  • Candidates in Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) will type at 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depression per hour.
  • The Data Entry Speed Skill Test at 2000 (two thousand) key depressions will be conducted for a duration of 15 minutes.
  • The Commission will hold Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), comprising of three modules- Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides.

SSC CGL 2017 Selection Procedure

  • The candidates who are declared qualified in Tier-I as per the cutoff marks fixed by the Commission would only be eligible to appear in Tier-II of SSC CGL exam.
  • The marks obtained by the candidates in Tier I & Tier II would determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier III & Tier IV.
  • The final merit of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total score obtained by them in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.
  • Candidates will be provided appointment on the basis of the ranks and preferences of posts
