SSC CGL 2017: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the Tier 1 exam of SSC CGL. The SSC CGL 2017 Tier 1 exam will now be conducted from August 5 to 24 which earlier was scheduled to be held from August 1 to 20. There will be no exams on August 7, 13, 14 & 15, 2017. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be held in Computer Based Mode in multiple shifts. Candidates who have applied for the exam will be issued admit cards for Tier 1 exam in the last week of July 2017. The SSC CGL 2017 answer key and exam analysis of Tier 1 released by coaching institutes will be provided here after the exam gets over. SSC to release the official answer key of SSC CGL in the month of September. The SSC CGL result of Tier 1 will be declared tentatively in October/November 2017. What is SSC CGL 2017 exam?
SSC conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination to fill up vacancies in different categories of Group A, B and C posts. Candidates selected on the basis of Tier I, Tier II & Tier III exam are posted in various ministries/departments/organisations such as Assistants in Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate office of the Govt. of India, Inspectors of Central Excise & Customs, Inspectors of Income Tax, Preventive Officers in Customs, Examiner in Customs, Sub-Inspectors in Central Bureau of Narcotics & CBI, Assistant Enforcement Officer in Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue, Divisional Accountant, Jr. Accountant, Auditor & UDCs in various offices of Govt. of India, Auditor Offices under C&AG, CGDA, CGA & others, Accountant/ Junior Accountant, Tax Assistant in CBDT and CBEC, Compiler in Registrar General of India etc. The commission this year has released a total of 3805 vacancies under SSC CGL recruitment exam.
Some of Important Highlights of SSC CGL 2017
SSC this year has made some major changes in the pattern of SSC CGL 2017. The changes are mentioned below.
- SSC has reduced the exam timing for Tier 1 exam from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
- This year, SSC did not mention the post of complier in the notification.
- The post code B for the post of Assistant in Central Vigilance Commission is not mentioned in this year’s SSC CGL 2017 notification.
- The grade pay for the post of Sub-Inspector (CBI), Inspector of Posts (Department of Posts) and Inspector (narcotics)
- The commission this year has added 7 exam cities – Berhampore (Odisha), Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh), Nizamabad (Telangana), Warangal (Telangana), Ahmednagar and Alibaug (both in Maharashtra)

The application procedure of SSC CGL is over now. The SSC CGL application form 2017 was available from May 16 to June 19, 2017. Only online applications were accepted for the recruitment exam. The commission has received a total of 30, 26, 598 online applications for SSC CGL 2017 exam. Last year, the commission had received over 38 lakh applications.
The SSC CGL eligibility criteria 2017 are the set of norms in terms of age, educational qualification, nationality which the candidates will have to fulfil in order to be eligible for the recruitment exam. The SSC CGL 2017 eligibility criteria has been fixed by the exam conducting body which is SSC for different posts. The eligibility criteria of SSC CGL 2017 has been provided below.
Age Limit: The age limit varies as per the posts. The age of the candidates will be calculated as on August 1, 2017. The maximum age limit for SSC CGL exam is 32 years and minimum age limit is 18 years for general category candidates. Relaxation in the age limit will be provided to the reserved category candidates as per government rule.
Educational qualification as on August 1, 2017
Assistant Audit Officer:
a) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
b) Desirable Qualifications for the Post of Assistant Audit Officer: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
Statistical Investigator Grade–II: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Compiler: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject.
All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
For posts of Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Computer Proficiency Test has also been prescribed as an essential qualification.
The admit card for SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be issued from last week of July. The SSC CGL call letter will be available for download till the last day of exam. The admit cards will be released online as per regions. Candidates can download their admit card from here. To download SSC CGL Tier 1 admit card, candidates should enter their roll number/registration number and date of birth. The exam authority will not sent the hard copy of admit card by post. Candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam without admit card. Candidates qualifying for Tier 2, 3 & 4 will be issued separate admit cards for the exam.
SSC CGL Exam Centres 2017
The online exam of SSC CGL 2017 Tier I will be conducted across 128 exam centres. Candidates while filling up their application form should indicate their choice of exam centres. No change of exam centres will be allowed, hence, the candidates should select the centres carefully and indicate the same in the application form correctly. SSC reserves the right to allot and cancel SSC CGL exam centres 2017.
The exam pattern of SSC CGL provides details related to paper pattern, number of sections, number of questions per sections, marking scheme, total marks, sectional weightage etc. SSC will conduct the SSC CGL 2017 exam in four tiers – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV. According to the SSC CGL paper pattern 2017, the Tier I & Tier II will be conducted in online mode while Tier III will be conducted in pen and paper mode. SSC CGL Tier III Exam Pattern 2017: The Tier III exam of SSC CGL is a descriptive test. This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The paper will carry 100 marks.
SSC CGL Tier IV Exam Pattern 2017: The SSC CGL Tier IV exam is Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). This test will be qualifying in nature.

SSC will release the official answer key of SSC CGL Tier 1 in September 2017. However, there are coaching insitutes which releases the answer key based on memory just after the exam gets over. Both the official and unofficial SSC CGL answer key will be provided on this page. Candidates who will appear in SSC CGL Tier 1 exam can check here the correct answers to questions of examination. To download SSC CGL Tier 1 answer key, candidates will have to login with their user ID and password. Candidates having any doubt with regard to the answers in the official answer key of SSC CGL can submit challenges online on payment of Rs 100 for per answer. The commission will release SSC CGL Tier 2 answer key in December 2017.
The result of SSC CGL will be announced in three phases – Tier I, Tier II and final. The SSC CGL 2017 result of Tier I will be declared in July/August 2017. Candidates securing the qualifying marks as set by SSC will be called for the Tier II . The SSC CGL Result 2017 of Tier II will be announced in October 2017. Candidates on the basis of their marks in Tier I and Tier II will be shortlisted for the Tier III and Tier IV. The final result of SSC CGL 2017 will be declared in March/April 2017 for selecting candidates to the Group B and C posts in ministries/departments/organizations. The final result will be prepared adding the marks of the Tier I, Tier II & Tier III. Allotment of candidates to the various posts will be strictly done on the basis of merit and their preferences.
The SSC CGL cutoff score is decided by the exam conducting body, SSC to delimit candidates for further rounds of selection process. Only those candidates who will secure the SSC CGL 2017 cutoff score will be allowed in the subsequent rounds of the examination. There is no sectional cutoff in SSC CGL 2017 exam, candidates will have to secure the overall cutoff to qualify the exam. The SSC CGL Cutoff 2017 will be fixed as per different categories taking into consideration certain factors such as difficulty level, number of candidates appeared for the test, previous year cutoff scores, number of vacancies etc. Candidates who will secure the desired cutoff score of SSC CGL in the Tier I exam will be called for the Tier II. Candidates will have to secure SSC CGL 2017 cutoff score in Tier II to be eligible for appearing in Tier III and Tier IV.
