SSC CGL 2017: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination to recruit candidates in different categories of Group B and C posts in ministries/departments/organisations such as Central Vigilance Commission, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railway, Ministry Of External Affairs, Controller General of Account, Central Secretariat Service, etc. The commission this year has released notification for total 3805 vacancies. The SSC CGL 2017 application form has been made available on May 16. The last date of application has been extended to June 19, 2017 which earlier was June 16. The SSC Combined Graduate Level exam will be conducted in four stages – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV. As per the official notification, the Tier I exam of SSC CGL will be conducted in computer based mode from August 1 to 20, 2017. Candidates qualifying the SSC CGL 2017 Tier I will be called for the Tier II exam scheduled to be conducted on November 10 & 11, 2017. Candidates on the basis of their performance in the Tier I & II will be shortlisted for Tier III & Tier IV. The Tier III of SSC CGL will be conducted on January 21, 2018 followed by Tier IV in February 2018.
The marks obtained by the candidates in Tier I, Tier II & Tier III will be added together for preparing the final merit list. Candidates will be selected for various posts and departments on the basis of ranks and post preferences. Some of Important Highlights of SSC CGL 2017
SSC this year has made some major changes in the pattern of SSC CGL 2017. The changes are mentioned below.
- SSC has reduced the exam timing for Tier 1 exam from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
- This year, SSC did not mention the post of complier in the notification.
- The post code B for the post of Assistant in Central Vigilance Commission is not mentioned in this year’s SSC CGL 2017 notification.
- The grade pay for the post of Sub-Inspector (CBI), Inspector of Posts (Department of Posts) and Inspector (narcotics)

The SSC CGL eligibility criteria 2017 are the set of norms in terms of age, educational qualification, nationality which the candidates will have to fulfil in order to be eligible for the recruitment exam. The SSC CGL 2017 eligibility criteria has been fixed by the exam conducting body which is SSC for different posts. The eligibility criteria of SSC CGL 2017 has been provided below.
Age Limit: The age limit varies as per the posts. The age of the candidates will be calculated as on August 1, 2017. The maximum age limit for SSC CGL exam is 32 years and minimum age limit is 18 years for general category candidates. Relaxation in the age limit will be provided to the reserved category candidates as per government rule.
Educational qualification as on August 1, 2017
Assistant Audit Officer:
a) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
b) Desirable Qualifications for the Post of Assistant Audit Officer: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
Statistical Investigator Grade–II: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Compiler: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject.
All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
For posts of Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Computer Proficiency Test has also been prescribed as an essential qualification.
The application date of SSC CGL 2017 has been extended to June 19. Candidates are required to fill the application form of SSC CGL 2017 online. The application fee for SSC CGL 2017 is Rs 100 and women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from fee payment. Fee payment can be made through SBI challan/SBI net banking/credit or debit card. The last date to submit the application form of SSC CGL is June 19, 2017. The SSC CGL Application Form 2017 consists of two parts – Part I registration and Part II registration. In Part I registration, the candidate will have to fill basic information and Part II registration requires filling of payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature. Candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully before filling up the application form. No correction in the SSC CGL 2017 application form will be entertained after final submission. Candidates after successful registration should take a print out of the application form and e-receipt which should be retained for further reference.
SSC CGL Exam Centres 2017
The online exam of SSC CGL 2017 Tier I will be conducted across 128 exam centres. Candidates while filling up their application form should indicate their choice of exam centres. No change of exam centres will be allowed, hence, the candidates should select the centres carefully and indicate the same in the application form correctly. SSC reserves the right to allot and cancel SSC CGL exam centres 2017.
The admit card of SSC CGL will be released in four phases – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV. The SSC CGL admit card 2017 will be made available online by the exam conducting body which is Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The SSC CGL 2017 admit card will be released region wise. The admit card of SSC CGL Tier I will be issued to all those candidates applying successfully for the exam. Separate admit card of SSC CGL 2017 will be issued to the candidates shortlisted for the Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV exam. Candidates can download their admit card through their name/roll number/registration number and date of birth. After downloading the SSC CGL hall ticket 2017, candidates should take a print out. They should carry the admit card of SSC CGL to the exam centre on the day of exam along with valid photo ID proof.
The exam pattern of SSC CGL provides details related to paper pattern, number of sections, number of questions per sections, marking scheme, total marks, sectional weightage etc. SSC will conduct the SSC CGL 2017 exam in four tiers – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III & Tier IV. According to the SSC CGL paper pattern 2017, the Tier I & Tier II will be conducted in online mode while Tier III will be conducted in pen and paper mode. SSC CGL Tier III Exam Pattern 2017: The Tier III exam of SSC CGL is a descriptive test. This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which is necessary in Government jobs. The paper will carry 100 marks.
SSC CGL Tier IV Exam Pattern 2017: The SSC CGL Tier IV exam is Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). This test will be qualifying in nature.

The official answer key of SSC CGL 2017 Tier I will be released by SSC in July/August. However, the SSC CGL 2017 Answer Key of Tier II will be made available in September/October 2017. Candidates can download the SSC CGL 2017 answer key of online test by entering their roll number and password (DOB). The result of SSC CGL will be announced in three phases – Tier I, Tier II and final. The SSC CGL 2017 result of Tier I will be declared in July/August 2017. Candidates securing the qualifying marks as set by SSC will be called for the Tier II . The SSC CGL Result 2017 of Tier II will be announced in September/October 2017. The SSC CGL cutoff score is decided by the exam conducting body, SSC to delimit candidates for further rounds of selection process. Only those candidates who will secure the SSC CGL 2017 cutoff score will be allowed in the subsequent rounds of the examination. There is no sectional cutoff in SSC CGL 2017 exam, candidates will have to secure the overall cutoff to qualify the exam. The SSC CGL Cutoff 2017 will be fixed as per different categories taking into consideration certain factors such as difficulty level, number of candidates appeared for the test, previous year cutoff scores, number of vacancies etc. Candidates who will secure the desired cutoff score of SSC CGL in the Tier I exam will be called for the Tier II. Candidates will have to secure SSC CGL 2017 cutoff score in Tier II to be eligible for appearing in Tier III and Tier IV.
