CLAT Application Form CLAT Application Form 2018 - National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi has released the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2018 application form online on January 1, 2018. The applicants can submit CLAT application form till March 31, 2018. Applicants can apply only through the CLAT online Application Processing System (CAPS) interface. The application process can be divided into five steps, which is registration, filling up of CLAT application form and uploading of required documents, selecting test cities and lastly, payment of application fee. Last year, for the Specially Abled Persons (SAP), General and Other Backward Class (OBC) category candidates, the CLAT application fee was Rs. 4000 while for the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) category students the fee was Rs. 3500. The application fee is non-refundable and can be paid online only. Students who have passed their Class 12 board exams with at least 45% are eligible to CLAT registration process 2018. While filling the CLAT 2018 application form, avoid making errors as there is no option for correction after final submission. The test will be held in a computer-based mode on May 13, 2018 for admission to the LLB programmes of the 19 National Law Universities (NLUs). CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2018

As per the CLAT eligibility criteria, General, OBC and SAP category students must have at least 45% in their Class 12 board exam while ST/SC category applicants are required to have 40%. Those appearing for the final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.

CLAT application form 2018 - Documents required for filling

Before commencing with the CLAT application process, applicants must make sure they keep the following documents and details ready -

  • Email ID and mobile number
  • Personal details
  • Address details
  • Qualification information such as Class 12 marks, year of passing, percentage, etc.
  • Names of three exam cities from where they wish to appear for the exam
  • Scanned images of photograph and signature of prescribed dimension
  • Scanned image of SAP certificate (if applicable)

How to fill CLAT application form 2018?

Once applicants have collected all the necessary documents and details, then they can start filling CLAT 2018 application form. The complete steps to fill CLAT application form is provided below.

Procedure to fill CLAT application form 2018

Step 1: CLAT Registration 2018 - To apply for CLAT 2018, the LLB aspirants are required to register for the test. To fill CLAT registration form, students must enter the following details -

  • Select Programme: Here, applicants are required to click on ‘Undergraduate Course’ since they are applying for the LLB programmes offered in 19 NLUs
  • Personal details: They must provide their name, date of birth, parent’s details, etc. The names entered must be same as it is mentioned in Class 10 or SSC certificate
  • Email ID and mobile number: Applicants must have a valid email ID and a password to register for the test. After successful registration, the CAPS user ID and password will be sent to the registered email address and mobile number. Both the email ID and mobile number must remain active to receive details related to application process
  • Enter security or CAPTCHA image: Before submitting the registration form, students are required to enter the letters or numbers provided in the image or a CAPTCHA
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button: After following the above-mentioned steps, they can review the entered details to make sure the information is free from any error. On confirming the details, click on the ‘Submit’ button

On successful CLAT 2018 registration, candidates will be able to view their application form and registration slip details. Also they are provided with an option to download previous year CLAT question papers for preparation. Students must remember and note down their User ID and password since it will be required for downloading the CLAT admit card 2018 as well as the result.

Step 2: Fill CLAT application form 2018 – With the provided login ID and password, applicants are required to log in to their CLAT accounts. In the CLAT application, students are required to enter the following details -

  • Other Personal Information: In this section, applicants are required to select the State or Union Territory from where they are from
  • Select the category: Applicants are required to select the category under which they are applying like General, OBC, SC, ST, etc. Students applying under the SAP category must upload the necessary documents. Also, applicants who have applied under a reserved category are required to produce the necessary document at the time of admission to support their reservation
  • Education qualification: While filing this section candidates have to select Grading Mechanism, year of passing Class 12, enter name of Board or University, maximum marks of the test, marks and percentage obtained in the class 12 exam
  • Choice for NLUs: Candidates have to select the programmes and NLUs according to their preference. Students can fill up all the 18 NLUs for the LLB programmes but admission will be provided on merit-cum-choice basis

Step 3: Uploading of documents - In this step, applicants are required to upload the scanned images of their recent coloured photograph and signature. The background of the photograph must be white or light coloured. Students who wear spectacles must avoid the glare on their glasses. On a white A4 size paper, candidates are required to draw a rectangular box and put their signature on it with black or dark blue ink pen. Step 4: Choice of CLAT test cities – Students can select up to three test cities according to their preference while filing up the application form. On the basis of the applicant’s first city preference, the CLAT exam centre 2018 will be allotted to them. The complete address of the exam centre will be printed on the CLAT admit card

CLAT application fee payment mode

The CLAT 2018 application fee can be paid via online mode only which are -

  • Credit card

Note: Additional bank charges to be borne by the applicants.

Only after the successful payment of the application fee, the CLAT application process will conclude. After submitting the CLAT application form 2018, a message will appear that applicant has successfully submitted the form.

Documents to preserve after submitting CLAT application form 2018

  • Hard copy of CLAT application form: After paying the fee, applicants will be able to download the CLAT confirmation page. Applicants can download the CLAT 2018 application form for their own record and further communication
  • Fee payment details: Along with the CLAT confirmation page, applicants will receive the CLAT fee payment details
  • CLAT User ID and Password: Note down the user ID and password for future use, such as downloading of admit card and checking result

CLAT Application FAQs

Q. Can I apply offline?

Ans. No, applicants can apply for CLAT 2018 only through online mode.

Q. Can I make changes in the submitted CLAT application form?

Ans. No. Once applicants submit the CLAT 2018 application form, they won’t be able to make any changes in the entered details. They can re-register for the test, then fill another application form and submit the same. In this case, the previous application fee will not be refunded to the applicants. Also, applicants must remember that the last submitted application form will be considered final.

Q. Do I need to send the hard copy of the application form of CLAT 2018 to the exam office?

Ans. No, applicants are not required to send the hard copy of the application to the exam office.

Q. How to recover CLAT password?

Ans. Go to the CLAT login page and click on ‘Forgot Password’ and then follow the requisite directions.

About CLAT 2018

Every year, one of the NLUs conducts CLAT in a computer-based mode. CLAT is one of the competitive law entrance exams of the country and every year thousands of aspirants appear. There are 19 NLUs offering admission to 2372 LLB seats through CLAT score. The online test includes 200 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and the exam duration is 2 hours. These MCQs will be divided into five sections, English including Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. The CLAT score will be available online on May 31, 2018. After the announcement of result, the NLUs will release the list of shortlisted candidates for counselling rounds. Apart from the NLUs, there are also various other private law schools that accepts CLAT scores.
