The Board will decide on the cutoff of AIPMT after taking into account a number of factors such as the total number of applicants for the current academic year, the sanctioned intake capacity of the various participating institutions, the level of difficulty of the entrance exam and the average performance of candidates in the medical entrance test etc. Only candidates who are shortlisted as per the cutoff of AIPMT will be eligible to participate in the counselling for admissions that will be organized for the 15% merit positions under the direction of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of India. For detailed information on the AIPMT 2016 Cutoff, candidates can check below.

Why is the AIPMT Cutoff 2016 Important?

The cutoff of AIPMT can be interpreted as the minimum scores required for guaranteed medical admissions under the 15% All India Quota seats and is, therefore, important. To be admitted to the MBBS or BDS course, a student normally should have a percentile score/rank that at least meets the minimum cutoff standard that has been set forth by the Board.

How is the cutoff decided by CBSE?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will review a number of factors before deciding on the cutoff of AIPMT. While the minimum cutoff typically varies every year, some of the standard parameters that are taken into consideration when deciding on the cutoff include the level of the difficulty of the medical entrance test, the actual number of test takers, the number of seats that are available across the participating institutions etc. The AIPMT 2016 Cutoff will also differ across the various categories and Institutes. The minimum cut off marks required to qualify the AIPMT entrance exam is 50 % for students from the general category, 40% for OBC, SC & ST candidates and 45% for general PH category candidates.

How will the AIPMT 2016 Cutoff be used to select candidates for admissions?

On the basis of the cutoff that is declared, CBSE will compile a separate merit list. The number of candidates included in the Merit List will be equivalent to the number of seats that are available for admissions to the MBBS/BDS courses in the various participating institutes under the 15% All India Quota and such candidates will be called for counselling. Apart from the main merit list, a waiting list will also be maintained and the number of candidates included in this list will be four times the number of seats that are available for admissions.
