The state of Tripura has scrapped off their entrance examination and now will be admitting medical applicants based on their NEET 2017 scores and eligibility. The Tripura Joint Entrance Examination Committee will be conducting the admission process of the state colleges while the Tripura Medical College Committee will be looking over the admission process of the private institutes. The admission and counselling procedure of the state and private medical colleges will be different.

Eligibility Criteria of Tripura MBBS Admission 2017

State Colleges: The eligibility criteria of the state medical colleges have been set by the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TJEE) committee. All applicants have to fulfil the eligibility criteria to be a part of the admission process.

  • Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
  • State: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Tripura.
  • NEET 2017 Scores: General category applicants will have to secure 50% marks and reserved category applicants will have to score 40% marks in NEET 2017.
  • Educational Qualifications: The applicant should have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized institute of Tripura with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  • Domicile Requirements: The parents of the applicant or the applicant should have resided in the state of Tripura for not less than 10 years immediately prior to applying for admission for Tripura MBBS 2017.

Children of All India Services Officers borne in Manipur- Tripura Cadre and the Children of the Employees of the State Government posted outside Tripura will be eligible for admission irrespective of their prior stay in Tripura.

If an applicant is not a permanent resident of Tripura but his/her parent is an officer of deputation to the Government of Tripura and has served for 3 years will be eligible for admission.

The children of ex-servicemen and defence personnel will be allowed for the admission procedure provided they have stayed in Tripura for 5 years before admission.

Private Colleges: The eligibility criteria of the private college under Tripura MBBS Admission 2017 have been set by the Tripura Medical College Committee.

  • Age: The applicant must be 17 years old on or before 31st December, 2017.
  • Educational Qualification: 10+2 (or equivalent) examination must have been successfully completed by the applicant with Physics, Biology, Chemistry and English as subjects.
  • Marks Requirement: All applicants are required to have passed individually in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology during the 10+2 qualification examination.

General category applicants will have to secure 50% marks as aggregate of Physics, Biology and Chemistry and PH applicants of this category have to secure 45% marks.

Reserved category applicants along with the PH applicants of this category will have to score 40% marks together in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

  • NEET 2017 Scores: General category applicants will have to score 50th Percentile in NEET 2017 whereas reserved category applicants will have to score 40th Percentile. Candidates with Locomotor Disability will have to secure 45th Percentile in NEET 2017.

Merit List of Tripura MBBS Admission 2017

The merit list of Tripura MBBS Admission will be released by the respective admission committee. The merit list will consist of the names of all applicants who are eligible for the counselling process. The merit list is prepared by checking the NEET ranking of the applicant along with the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria of the applicant. The merit list of the state colleges will be declared tentatively in the 2nd week of July, 2017 and of the private colleges in 5th week of June, 2017. The merit list will be declared for all qualified applicants online.


Admission Procedure of Tripura MBBS Admission 2017

The admission procedure of Tripura MBBS Admission 2017 will be different for state and private colleges. As both bodies have different conducting authority, there will be a difference in the counselling process and admission process.

State:

The state admissions will be done through NEET 2017. The application form for counselling will be released by the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TJEE) committee online. Applicants will be required to fill in details regarding their personal information in the application form. The applicants will have to provide NEET 2017 details in the application form along with contact information and preferences of college and course. The online application will be available tentatively from 4th week of June, 2017 and 1st week of July, 2017.

Private

The application form for Tripura Medical College will be available tentatively from 3rd week of June, 2017 till the 4th week of June, 2017. Details regarding the applicant’s personal and educational information will have to be submitted. A registration fee of Rs. 2000 will have to be paid by the applicant through online S.B.I Collect Payment Gateway integrated with the online application. After submitting the application online, print out of the System Generated Application Form has to be taken which has to be produced during counselling session. The applicants will also be required to upload the following documents to be submitted along with the application form:

  • Pass certificate of 10+2 as proof of birth
  • NEET 2017 Admit Card
  • Mark Sheet of 10+2 (or equivalent) examination.
  • Permanent Resident Certificate from a competent authority
  • Category Certificates (if applicable)
  • Coloured Passport Size Photo of the applicant with date and name.

Counselling of Tripura MBBS Admission 2017

State: The counselling procedure of the state colleges will start tentatively in the 3rd week of July, 2017. The applicants will have to be personally present during the counselling procedure. Selection of applicants for the various seats will be done on the basis of the applicant’s ranking in NEET 2017 and his/her eligibility for the course. After the allotment of seats, the applicant will have to report at their allotted institute for document verification and payment of fees.

An applicant who is absent in the first round of counselling will not be allowed in the subsequent rounds unless he/she applies to the board with valid reasons. If any applicant wants to surrender his/her seat it has to be done within 7 days excluding the day of admission. If there are still seats left after the first round of counselling, then a second round of counselling will be held.

The applicants will have to bring the following documents to the counselling venue:

  • Original 10+2 examination mark sheet
  • Two attested copies of 10+2 mark sheet
  • Permanent resident certificate of Tripura
  • NEET 2017 Admit Card
  • NEET 2017 Result
  • Category Certificates

Private: The counselling session of the private colleges will take place tentatively from the 5th week of June. The applicants who are shortlisted for the counselling process will be required to report at the Tripura Medical College for seat allotment. The applicants will be allotted seats according to their ranking in the NEET 2017 list and eligibility. The preference of the applicants will also be taken into consideration. The applicants will be required to bring their coloured passport size photo with them during the counselling process. After the seat is allotted to applicants, they will have to confirm their admission by verification of documents (the same list of documents as submitted with the application form) and payment of fees. In case there are still vacant seats left after the first round then the second round of counselling process will be held to fill those seats.
