NEET PG 2017 Counselling FAQsNEET PG 2017 Counselling FAQs – The counselling of NEET PG 2017 will be conducted by Medical Council Committee (MCC) for allotment of 50% All India Quota seats in MD/MS/PG Diploma programmes offered at Government medical colleges in India. NEET PG 2017 counselling will be held in online mode beginning in the month of March 2017. It will be organised in two rounds. A total of 31,330 candidates have qualified and eligible to participate in the counselling process for allotment of all India quota seats in medical colleges of India expect seats in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir. To participate in NEET PG 2017 counselling process candidates have to register themselves with their NEET PG 2017 roll number. Question: How will NEET PG 2017 Counselling be held and what will be the steps?

Answer - NEET PG 2017 Counselling will be held in the online mode. It will be organised to offer to 50% All India Quota candidates into medical/dental post graduation courses across the country. Below are the main steps to be followed in NEET PG 2017 Counselling.

Question: What is NEET PG 2017 Counselling Schedule?

Answer - The official dates of NEET PG 2017 Counselling have not been announced yet. However, the tentative schedule of the counselling procedure is being provided below. It will be updated as soon as the official schedule is released.

Question: How will NEET PG 2017 Counselling Registration procedure will be carried out?

Answer – The qualified candidates will have to register themselves after which Registration Id and Password will be generated. To register, the candidates will need to visit the website of Medical Council Committee. It is to be noted that candidate will be able to register only once that is before the first round of the seat allotment. Using the registration Id and Password, the choice submission can be done. The candidates must save and lock their choices in the order of the preference.

Question: Do I have to report to any counselling centre with documents for registration or choice filling?

Answer - No, the choice filling and submission process are in online mode, the candidates will not need any certificates at the time of choice submission. It can be done from any place of their convenience.

Question: How do I retrieve the Password case Forgotten?

Answer – To retrieve the password, the candidates will need to enter the following details, NEET PG  Roll No, application number/testing id, date of birth, security question & answer thereon to be entered as given during new candidate registration process for counselling. The details provided by the candidate will be validated with the candidate's database possessed by NBE. In case the candidate is not able to retrieve password, the candidate is required to approach nearby help centre (Participating Medical/Dental College) for initialization of Registration

Question: How do I check choice available to the allotted rank?

Answer – Using the Registration Id and Password, the candidates will need to login to their account after that look for the “Available Choices” column. Click on the given link, available choices along with the credentials of the candidate will be displayed on the screen. Before selecting the options, it is advised to the candidates to prepare an order of preferences and accordingly select the options.

Question: What is the procedure to submit the choices?

Answer – After the registration, the candidates can click on ‘Choice Filling’ icon, a page will be displayed on the screen, the demo of this page is provided below. The page will display the choices available on the left side of the screen, on clicking the desired option, it will be added to the right side. During the choice submission, the candidate will have to save the choices by clicking the button, ‘Save & Continue’ (for save and continuing the operation) and ‘Save & Go to Home’ (save & redirected to Homepage or quits the current menu) after completion of the work. Candidates can view the Courses (Degree/ Diploma), Subjects, State and Institute. For the convenience of the candidate, the choices could be shown by selecting them State-wise, course-wise, alphabetical order of Institutions and courses or alphabetical order of courses and Institutions, etc.

Question: How to interchange and delete multiple choices in NEET PG 2017 counselling?

Answer – In order to interchange the choices, the candidates will have to select the option as source and destination to enable their swapping and reorder all the choices. To delete the group of choices, select a group of choices and click on the appropriate box.

Question: Is there any restriction for filling up a number of choices of Institutions (Colleges) or subjects in choice filling form?

Answer – No, the candidates can fill as many choices as they wish. However, it is to be noted that it should be in the order of preference as choices will be considered in order at the time of seat allotment.

Question: What is NEET PG 2017 choice locking?

Answer – After saving and submitting the choices, the candidates will have to lock the choices then only it will be considered. Candidates need to click on ‘Choice Lock Button’ to lock the choices. It must be done before the last date of the schedule. Also, once the choices are locked they cannot be altered. In case, the candidate forgets to lock the choices, the options submitted at 5:00 PM of last date of locking will be considered. The candidates must take the print out of the locked choices. Printout of locked choices will have locking date & time, IP address of computer and system generated Unique Number. If candidate logs in again, then the locked choices will be displayed and the choices cannot be modified or changed.

Question: What is the second round of NEET PG 2017 Counselling?

Answer – In the second round of the NEET PG Counselling, the candidates will need to fill fresh choices and seats will be allotted as per the order of the merit list. However, no fresh registration will be done for the round 2.

Question: Who will be eligible and ineligible for 2nd Round of allotment?

Answer – The candidates eligible for the second round of the counselling will be from the groups given below.

Group–I: Registered candidates who did not get any seat allotted in the 1st round.

Group-II: Registered candidates, whose 1st round of allotted Seat Cancelled during the document verification on reporting for admission, who have secured seat under reserved quota, due to change of Category from reserved to Unreserved or PH status from Yes to No, but are still eligible in the next round of seat allotment, with changed Category, subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions.

Group–III: Candidates who have reported/joined at allotted institute during the joining period of round-1 of allotment and submitted willingness for participating in second round up-gradation as Yes

Who are not eligible for 2nd Round of allotment?

  • Not reported at Allotted Institute after seat allotment in 1st round
  • Reported & Withdrawn (Resigned) from counselling at Allotted Institute.
  • Became non-eligible due to change of category.
  • Candidates who have not opted for up-gradation

Question: What will happen to the seats left in reserved categories?

Answer – The reserved category seats will be converted in the second round of seat allotment. The conversion of vacant reserved seats will be done as per the following algorithm after allotment of seat during Round-2 to PH/Reserved category candidates

  • ST (PH) -> ST
  • SC(PH) -> SC
  • UR (PH) -> UR
  • OBC(PH) -> OBC
  • ST -> SC
  • SC-> UR

After both the round whatever seat will be left, it will be transferred to the state quota.

Question: Is it necessary to join allotted Medical College to participate in the second round of NEET PG 2017 Counselling?

Answer – Yes, it is compulsory for the candidate to report at the institute allocated in the first round. After reporting in the institute, the candidate will exercise the option to upgrade the seat or participate in the second round of the seat allotment. Also, in order to participate in the second round, candidates will need to fill the fresh choices.

Question 7: If the candidate has given consent for up-gradation of his/her choice during round-2 and if their choice is upgraded, is it necessary to join allotted college during second round? Or in case of candidates change their decision of upgrading choice, can he/she continue to study in college allotted through the first round of allotment?

Answer – In case candidate is allotted seat during NEET PG counselling round 2 allotment process (choice is upgraded), the seat allotted during the first round will be automatically cancelled immediately. Candidates will have to join the college/seat allotted during the second round. If a candidate does not join the college/seat allotted during the second round, within stipulated time then their candidature will be forfeited and they will also lose the seat for which to them. The seat can also be upgraded in the same college by the change of category (i.e. ST/SC/OBC to UR or PH to non-PH seat) in such case the candidate has to take fresh admission on the upgraded seat.

Question: What about condition of Stipend / fee structure / course duration / bond amount / rendering of service in rural / tribal area/ other condition?

Answer - Stipend /fee structure/ course duration/bond amount/rendering of service in rural/tribal area/ other conditions etc. may vary from State to State and Institute to Institute. Some seats may be approved/ permitted but not yet recognised by MCI. The allotment made through online allotment process will be firm and final as per Hon'ble Supreme Court's directions. Therefore, the candidates should well examine these points before opting for a seat at a medical college. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) shall neither be responsible nor shall entertain any case on above grounds if any. The information received from various participating Medical / Dental Colleges has been made available on Ministry of Health & Family Welfare / MCC website (under the Medical Counseling - Post-graduate Counseling - Information about college, fee, bond information etc.). Candidates are advised to visit the website of college/ institution to check the information. In case they require any additional information, they can contact the college/institution on the telephone.

Question: If candidates give the option to participate in round-2 at the time of joining college from first round allotment, but later change their decision and want to continue study at already allotted Medical College, what is the procedure to avoid change (cancellation) of already allotted college/seat?

Answer - Option once exercised cannot be changed therefore the candidate must submit choice during the choice submission period before the NEET PG 2017 counselling round 1and exercise option to upgrade choice during round 2 carefully. However, in case the candidate change his/her mind during the joining period itself, then, candidate have to contact the Dean/Principal/Director of the allotted college for modification of entry regarding participation in Round-2, in the software (only during joining /reporting period), which is exclusively available with allotted college. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) does not have the facility to modify the candidate’s option. Hence, no request for change of option shall be entertained by the MCC.

Question: If I opt to participate in second round of NEET PG 2017 counselling whether allotted seat (of the first round) will be cancelled?

Answer - If in the second round seat is not allotted then seat provided in the first round will be retained providing the fact that candidates have completed admission formalities and not resigned from the allotted seat. However, if the seat is allocated in round 2 then earlier admission will get cancelled automatically.

Question: If candidates get an upgraded seat in NEET PG 2017 counselling second round, will they be able to join that college directly?

Answer – No, candidates will need to get a relieving letter from the earlier institute/ college generated online, before they can join the next college/institution.

Question: In case candidates get an upgraded seat but in the same college, because of change of category, (e.g. from SC / ST / OBC to UR category) do they have to take admission on the allotted seat again?

Answer - Yes, candidates have to get a relieving letter generated on-line for the earlier seat and then get an admission letter again newly allotted seats for the upgraded category seat from the concerned institution; otherwise seat would be cancelled or surrendered to state quota.

Question: In case candidates have Birth Certificate / Caste Certificate/ another certificate in regional language, will it be acceptable at the time of reporting/joining?

Answer – No, they will not be accepted, the competent authority will accept the certificate in English or Hindi language. Also some of the states insist on for a certificate in English language only. Candidates will need to carry Certified Copy of English version of the original certificate, in case certificate issued is in other than the English language along with an original certificate.

Question 12: If there is a discrepancy in spelling of name in documents and application form, what should candidates do?

Answer – In such case, the candidates will have to carry proof that the documents belong to the same person in the form of an affidavit/undertaking.

Question: If login for choice filling/ submission, say wrong roll number/ password, what may be problem?

Answer – It can happen if Roll Number/ Testing ID or password entered is incorrect. Also if a password is case sensitive such issue might come. Type password carefully. The candidates can also generate the new password by answering the secret question. The candidates should take care of the following points at the time of login

  • Candidates are advised to use any of the given browser Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer-6 or above, Google Chrome
  • Spelling, format of day, space used, lower case and upper case should be same as in given in the application form
  • The internet connection should be uninterrupted. If internet connection is slow then monitored IP address will change and a session can expire. If possible candidates try to log in from another computer from which other candidates have logged in successfully

Question: What documents are required at the time of joining in allotted Medical / Dental College?

Answer – Below is the list of certificates the candidates need to carry along with them at the time of reporting to the allocated institute. The candidates must note that all the original certificates will be required. Also, it will be retained by the admission authority. The candidates carrying the certificate that they have deposited their document in any other institute will not be offered admission.

  • NEET PG 2017 Result
  • NEET PG 2017 Admit Card
  • Mark Sheets of MBBS 1st, 2nd and 3rd Professional Examinations
  • MBBS Degree Certificate
  • Internship Completion Certificate/ Certificate from the Head of Institution or College that the candidate shall complete the Internship by March 31, 2016
  • Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate issued by MCI. Provisional Registration Certificate is acceptable only in cases where candidate is undergoing internship and likely to complete the same on or before March 31, 2016
  • High School/Higher Secondary Certificate/Birth Certificate as proof of date or birth
  • Candidates allotted seat must carry one of the identification proofs (ID Proof) to the allotted college at the time of admission such as PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhar Card
  • Candidates allotted seat must carry one of the identification proofs (ID Proof) to the allotted college at the time of admission (as mentioned in the Information Bulletin published by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for AIPGMEE i.e. PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhar Card)
  • The Candidate should also bring the following certificates, if applicable (a) SC/ST Certificate issued by the competent authority (in the format as specified in the prospectus) and should be in English or Hindi language. Sub caste should be clearly mentioned in the certificate

  • OBC certificate issued by the competent authority as per the given format. The sub-caste should match with the Central List of OBC. The OBC candidates should not belong to Creamy Layer
  • Orthopedic Physical Disability (Physically Handicapped -PH) Certificate issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Boards. No other PH certificate, issued by any other Authorities / Hospital will be entertained
