NEET PG Merit ListNEET PG 2018 Merit List – The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the merit list of NEET PG 2018 on February 15. It is available in the form of PDF. NEET PG merit list 2018 displays the name of the candidate, testing ID, category, scores, All India Rank and eligibility status. NEET PG 2018 merit list is the basis for admission to 50% All India Quota seats in all government medical colleges. The list will not be sent individually to candidates. Only those candidates securing minimum qualifying marks prescribed for 50% All India Quota have been included in NEET PG merit list 2018. NEET PG 2018 minimum cutoff for general category is 50, while that for SC/ST/OBC it is 40 percentile. In case the rank of two or more candidates is equal then the tie-breaking mechanism is followed. Admission to remaining 50% state quota seats, the respective state counselling committee will prepare their state merit list for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses of the particular state. Based on the norms and regulations decided by the designated state counselling authority, admission will be granted to candidates domiciled in that particular state. NEET PG 2018 was conducted on January 7, for admission to around 35,000 postgraduate medical seats in 153 medical colleges across India. The exam was held in the computer-based mode in a single session. Nearly, 1,30,000 aspirants took the entrance examination. In the previous year, a total of 31,330 aspirants were included in NEET PG merit list for 50% All India Quota seats.

NEET PG 2018 cutoff

All the candidates appearing in NEET PG 2018 must secure the minimum NEET PG cutoff percentile to qualify the entrance test. Aspirants securing marks corresponding to the set percentile will be eligible to be included in NEET PG 2018 merit list. The NEET PG cutoff percentile for general category candidates is 50 percentile, while for reserved category, it is 40. Last year, the cutoff scores equal to 50 percentile was 705.9194. NEET PG 2018 Merit List and its types

Following are the types of NEET PG merit lists to be prepared for admission to 50% All India Quota and state quota seats.

  • All India NEET PG 2018 rank – This merit list displays the overall rank of the candidates who appeared and qualified the entrance test. The NEET PG 2018 merit list will be irrespective of candidate’s domicile.
  • All India 50% Quota rank – It is the overall merit rank of the candidates who appeared in NEET PG 2018 for 50% All India Quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma and MDS courses.
  • All India 50% Category rank – This is the overall NEET PG 2018 merit rank of candidates in a particular category (OBC/SC/ST) as opted by candidates in NEET PG for 50% All India Quota seats. This NEET PG 2018 merit list is applicable for 50% All India Quota candidates.
  • State quota/Private medical colleges/Deemed universities/AFMS rank – The state quota merit rank will be determined by the designated state counselling conducting authority as per NEET PG scores, state eligibility criteria and reservation guidelines.

NEET PG 2018 Merit List for 50% All India Quota seats

Through NEET PG merit list 2018, the admission to 50% All India Quota seats in all government medical colleges will be granted. The merit list of NEET PG for 50% All India Quota seats includes candidates’ name, scores, category and All India Rank. The conducting authority, NBE, will declare the cutoff scores which must be achieved by candidates. Aspirants who will secure NEET PG cutoff scores set for 50% All India Quota seats will be eligible to be included in NEET PG 2018 merit list. Only candidates belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir will not be included in the merit list. However, aspirants nominated by the Government of India under central pool seats for completing MBBS degree from a medical college in the above states will be eligible for 50% All India Quota seats. NEET PG 2018 Merit List – Tie-breaking method

In NEET PG merit list 2018, if merit rank of two or more candidates will be equal, then the inter-se merit procedure will be followed to resolve ties.

  • Number of correct response – Candidates with more number of correct responses will be ranked at the higher rank in NEET PG 2018 merit list.

  • Scores of MBBS professional examination – If the first method fails, the aggregate percentage of all MBBS professional examinations will be taken into consideration. An aspirant with higher aggregate percentage rank will be allotted rank.

  • Date of birth – Finally, the older candidates will be placed at the higher rank than the younger ones.

NEET PG 2018 Merit List – 50% State Quota seats/AFMS rank

Apart from All India Quota seats, the remaining 50% state quota seats will be allotted by the respective state counselling authority in government as well as private medical and dental colleges of the state. Every state government will release their state merit list using the scores secured in NEET PG 2018. Besides scores obtained in the entrance test, NEET PG merit list for 50% state quota seats will be prepared as per the state eligibility criteria and reservation criteria. Aspirants must secure the scores corresponding to minimum qualifying percentile as prescribed by NBE.

NEET PG revised cutoff

To fill the number of PG seats in medical and dental colleges in 2017, the Medical Council of India (MCI) lowered NEET PG cutoff percentile by 7.5 percentile for each category. It helped colleges accepting NEET PG scores for filling their medical and dental seats. NEET PG cutoff for general category was reduced from 50 to 42.50. The table below displays the revised NEET PG cutoff for every category in terms of percentile and marks.

What after NEET PG 2018 merit list is declared?

After the publication of NEET PG 2018 merit list, the counselling for 50% All India Quota seats will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). NEET PG counselling 2018 will be held in online mode for 50% All India Quota seats, AFMC and deemed universities. Aspirants who will secure NEET PG cutoff scores will be eligible for the counselling process. During NEET PG counselling, candidates have to register themselves online for new registration. While registering for NEET PG 2018 counselling, candidates have to provide their preferences of colleges as well as courses. After the registration process, the seat allotment result for round 1 will be published. The allotment of seats will be done on the basis of merit rank, choices filled by candidates and availability of seats. Once the result is published, aspirants are required to report to the allotted college for document verification and completion of admission process. After the process of the first round is over, the authority will conduct second round of NEET PG counselling for the remaining seats left vacant.
