National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET scheduled to be held on May 7, 2017 in pen and paper based mode and likely to be taken by 11 lakh candidates. NEET 2017 is a national level medical undergraduate entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes offered in government, private and deemed medical and dental institutions across India. NEET 2017 score will be the basis for admission to 15% All India quota seats, 85% state quota seats and all seats available in private and deemed medical as well as dental colleges of India.
According to notification released by CBSE, 11, 35,104 candidates have registered for NEET 2017 against 8, 02,594 applicants from last year. In NEET 2017, a total of 41.42% more candidates applied as comparison to last year. “This is the highest number of registered candidates for NEET Examination so far”, CBSE said in its notification.
Looking into the substantial increase in number of registered candidates in NEET 2017, the Minister of Human Resources and Development, Government of India has decided to add 23 more new examination cities in the list of 80 existing examination cities. Now, NEET 2017 will be held at 103 cities in more than 2200 exam centres.
The CBSE has provided an opportunity to candidates to revise their NEET 2017 exam centres. Candidates can choose for any of the newly added exam centres after login into their NEET 2017 account. The one time exam centre revision option is available from March 24 to 27, 2017.
CBSE has also assured that the all the exam centres are credible, reliable and good infrastructure facility in order to have smooth and fair conduct of examination.
The application form of NEET 2017 was available in online mode from January 31 to March 1, 2017. The admit card of NEET 2017 will be released on April 15 for candidates who successfully submitted the application form along with payment of requisite examination fee.
The exam of NEET 2017 is on May 7 and exam to be conducted in morning session for three hours beginning from 10:00 am. The NEET 2017 will be conducted in 10 languages – Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya and Kannada. And, candidates will get question booklet as per the opted language. The result of NEET 2017 will be released on June 8, 2017.
