NEET 2017 result has been announced. Out of 11.38 lakh candidates who had registered for the exam, 6,11, 739 candidates have qualified for the counselling rounds. Navdeep Singh from Muktsar, Punjab has topped the exam with 99.99 percentile. The figures show that female candidates have outperformed the male candidates in NEET exam.
Navdeep Singh has topped the exam by scoring 697 marks out of 720. Navdeep Singh hails from Muktsar, Punjab, and is a student of Helix Institute in Chandigarh. Archit Gupta has bagged the AIR 2 with 695/ 720. Manish Mulchandani has grabbed the third rank with 695/ 720. Both Archit and Manish are from Allen Career Institute, Indore.
Female Candidates Outperform Male Candidates
Female candidates have done better than their male counterparts in NEET 2017 exam. Among the qualified candidates, 56.44% are females and 43.51% are males. However, the pass percentage of female and male candidates is same (approximately 56%).
- 3,45,313 female candidates have passed the exam against 2,66,221 male candidates.
- Female pass percentage is 55.99%. Out of the 6,16,772 female candidates who appeared for NEET, 3,45,313 candidates have passed the exam.
- Male pass percentage is 56.24%. Out of 4,73,305 male candidates who appeared for NEET 2017 exam, 2,66,221 have passed.
- Out of the 8 transgenders who had appeared for NEET 2017, 5 have passed the exam.

NEET 2017 – The Language Controversy
This year, there was a major controversy in NEET 2017 exam. Acting on a petition filed by a group of students and parents, Madras High Court had restrained the CBSE from declaring the NEET result 2017. SC lifted the stay on June 12, and finally, the CBSE announced the NEET 2017 result on June 23. As per the data available, around 90% of the students had appeared for NEET exam in English or Hindi language.

NEET 2017 Cutoffs
This year, the cutoff marks range for General Category candidates is 697-131. For SC, ST and OBC categories, NEET 2017 cutoff marks range is 130-107. Last year, the cutoff scores for SC, ST and OBC categories were different.
NEET 2017 – State-wise Toppers
With three toppers in the Top 10 list, the state of Punjab has grabbed the limelight in NEET 2017 results. Apart from the Punjab, other states which have done well are Madhya Pradesh and Kerala (3 toppers each in top 25). In top 25, 2 toppers each are from Haryana, UP, Gujarat, Telengana and Delhi. There is 1 topper each from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Rajasthan.The counselling for NEET 2017 will start from July 3, 2017.
