About Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University is located in the historic city of Agra city of Uttar Pradesh. It was formerly known as Agra University and is one of the oldest institutions in Uttar Pradesh. The University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University in 1996. The university caters to students of seven districts of Agra Division, viz. Agra, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah and Mathura. Sarojini Naidu Medical College, one of the oldest and premier Medical Institute of the country is affiliated to the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University. At present, University has approximately 200 colleges affiliated to it and 15 residential institutes spread in four residential campuses such as Paliwal Park, Khandari Campus, Civil Lines Campus and Chhaleshar Campus.
The University not only aims to impart quality education but also aims to provide exposure to the students to satisfy their burning desire of exploring their creative intellect and learning. “Tamso Ma Jyotirgamay” which means moving from darkness to light, is the motto of the university, which is making every effort to fulfill and realize the spirit of this motto.
The University is growing steadily as a centre for imparting higher scientific vocational and job oriented education and innovative research.
